Green Initiatives

In revitalizing this legacy property, the El Chorro team is devoted to sustainable practices and supporting the community and environment. Leading the renovation, Desert Star Construction maintained the original building footprint and worked to increase sustainability in the building design and operations.

Through the intelligent use of renewable energies on property, the reuse of existing resources and increasing energy efficiency, El Chorro Lodge is seeking LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Highlights of El Chorro Lodge’s sustainable initiatives take full advantage of renewable solar technologies. The solar electric panels on the carport structures that will generate a substantial portion of the property’s total energy consumption and two closed loop solar thermal water heating systems will provide hot water to the lodge. These technologies will help to significantly reduce El Chorro’s environmental footprint.
